WE KNOW THAT VISITING A NEW CHURCH CAN BE INTIMIDATING

What should I wear? Where do my kids go? We understand the many thoughts that can come from visiting a new church, so we want you to feel right at home when you visit. Mount Vernon is a place where people can meet Jesus, engage in life-giving community, and everyone is welcome. We believe in creating a space where people can have authentic encounters with Christ, discover their gifts and use them for God's glory!

SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES

We have two Sunday morning worship services:

9:00 am is our Traditional Service in the Sanctuary.

11:00 am is our Energized Worship Service in the Family Life Center (larger brick building).

WHAT TO EXPECT

WHEN YOU ARRIVE

When you arrive at Mount Vernon, you’ll be greeted by a friendly smile from one of our hosts. Please let us know if this is your first time visiting! We suggest you get here a few minutes early to find a seat you like and get settled in. There will be complimentary coffee for you to enjoy.

WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?

Our Lighthouse Kids' Ministry is designed to help children learn about Jesus, explore God's saving grace, meet new friends, and have fun. Our children's ministry staff is dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and entertaining atmosphere for all children. The nursery, ages birth to 3 (potty-trained), is located in the sanctuary and is available for both Sunday services as well as during the Sunday School hour. Children's Sunday School, ages 3 (potty-trained)-5th grade, is held in Room 204 in the Family Life Center from 10:00-10:50 a.m. Children's Church is held during our 11:00 a.m. worship for children ages 3 (potty-trained)-10.

WHAT IS THE WORSHIP LIKE?

Worship begins with praise and celebration. We share celebrations and concerns. God blesses us with a message in both song and word.  Our choirs are lead by Jackie Weaver.  Rev Tac Coley brings the message and word.  Offering boxes are available for your tithes and offering.  Altar is open for reflection.  Following the benediction we depart to serve.  Worship usually lasts for one hour.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Dress is casual and varied at our church. You’ll see men in dress shirts and pants, to jeans or shorts. It’s the same variety for the ladies. From dresses, slacks, skirts, or jeans. We’re more interested that you’re here than what you wear.
